A young woman was killed Sunday night when struck by a truck along the Maine Turnpike in Portland. State Police said the woman had pulled her car over into the breakdown lane with a flat tire and was struck when attempting to flag down another vehicle. Troopers said the incident took place in the southbound lane about 7:15 pm, near the Falmouth town line. The woman has been identified as 24 year old Aeriel Rodriguez of Kittery. The vehicle that struck her was a pickup truck driven by 42 year old Michael Hawk of Lewiston, who was not injured. The crash closed the southbound lanes for about two hours.
