Woman Convicted of Killing Husband Due to be Sentenced

| June 27, 2014

BANGOR, Maine (AP) – A Maine woman convicted of killing her husband using pliers, a box cutter and a plastic baseball bat during a jealous rage is due to be sentenced. Justice E. Allen Hunter, who described Roxanne Jeskey’s actions as “monstrous savagery,” was scheduled to impose the sentence Friday. A medical examiner reported that Richard Jeskey was beaten and strangled and suffered cuts, punctures and bruises from head to toe. His naked body was found in a bathtub in 2011. A neighbor testified that Jeskey was angry because her husband had been calling another woman. Defense lawyers used an insanity defense, saying Jeskey suffered from seizures and psychiatric disorders and from surgery for removal of a brain tumor 10 years earlier.
