The State Medical Examiner’s Office says the victim from this weekend’s domestic violence homicide in Westbrook was shot twice. The autopsy results on Matthew Rairdon showed he died from gunshot wounds to the head and chest. The Medical Examiner said his assailant , Patrick Milliner, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
State Police continue to investigate the case and were at the criminal justice academy Monday interviewing corrections officers who were part of a class, attended by Milliner. Investigators also will talk with Cabela’s, which is where Milliner purchased the gun on Friday.
Milliner had left a long rambling post on Facebook and also a written note from Milliner was found inside Rairdon’s apartment. Investigators say both bodies were found inside the entryway to Rairdon’s apartment and it appears that Milliner, who was dressed in black winter clothing, likely ambushed Rairdon as he was opening the door to his apartment . Investigators will continue to interview friends and family of both men throughout the week.
