Friends and community members released 19 balloons into the sky Thursday night, to celebrate the 19 years of Abby Ladner’s life. The vigil began with one of Abby’s teachers saying what kind of a girl Abby was.
“She was the sweetest person you would ever want to know, that Abby had the respect of everyone in the room from the youngest to the oldest, everyone was drawn to her.”
Abby’s guidance councilor stood in front of the group and shared that this past semester, Abby finally realized what her calling was– Social Work. She said how perfect that fit really would have been. A slide show was presented that Abby’s friends had created, showcasing memories with friends and family over the years, from Parties to Pageants. One thing was consistent throughout every photo, her beautiful smile.
“She had a contagious smile, she was a very caring person and full of life. She was loving and had the biggest heart of anyone you would ever know, she was funny and beautiful, strong and smart, happy and very outgoing.”
Friends signed white paper bags, with messages for Abby. They then lit a candle inside of the bag and lined the walk way outside, as a symbol that they will never forget their cherished friend.
