Now a local business is reaching out to the community to fundraise money to get Kevin his dream car. Not only is it the car he’s always wanted, but it will make his life a little easier too. News Source 8’s Angela Christoforos reports…
Life will never be the same for long time Fort Kent resident Kevin Pelletier. Kevin lost one of his legs after being hit by a garbage truck in September. But he still makes the best of things, and Valley Motors wants to lift his spirits, by raising funds to get him a new set of wheels.
Fort Kent resident Keven Pelletier said, “Makes me feel good knowing that all these people care.”
Pelletier’s ideal car is a Chevvy Malibu.
Valley Motors Sales Representative Ken Marquis said, “It’s a great car it’s easy for him to get in and out of, and that’s what he wants so that’s what we’re looking to get him.”
So far the community has raised $4000. But in order to get Kevin the car of his dreams Valley Motors is hoping to raise another $9000.
Kevin’s mother Hernelle Pelletier said, “That’s what’s kept his spirit going and his attitude, you know after what he went through it’s really amazing that his attitude is so good but I think that this dream car is what keeps him going.”
Spending months in hospitals and rehab hasn’t been easy, but Pelletier says he finds his strength through community support.
“Kevin’s like family here so we definitely want to help him in every way we can and anything for Kevin. He’s just a great all around guy, he’s donated a lot of time to the community,” said Marquis.
And now the Fort Kent community, wants to give back to him.
Hernelle Pelletier said, “They’re just amazing. The little town that could came through again.”
If you’d like to help Kevin get his dream car, send donations to Valley Motors at 42 West Main Street in Fort Kent.
