University of Maine Presque Isle baseball players are not enjoying the snow at all. The Owls are preparing for their second road trip of the season leaving next weekend. First Year coach Mike Pankow says his players are making the best of situation.
Pankow:”We talk a lot about controlling the controllable and weather is one of those things we can’t control. We just try to control what we can and be ready for when we do get a chance to get on the field.”
The Owls spent a week on the road during February Vacation and even though they struggled Pankow says there were a lot of positives also.
Pankow:” We need to throw some more strikes, but we played well defensively and did some good things offensively. We are very excited about the season and what the rest of the season has in store for us.”
It is a senior laden team with several veterans back for another year. They hit the road again later this month during their March break and that is an important trip for the team as they look to secure a USCAA Playoff bid
Pankow:” It’s a big part of our season that we need to get in and focus for and be ready to go.. I think the guys are doing a good job of that. Focusing and locking in and being ready. I think we are going to be more then ready when we go on that trip.”
