AUBURN, ME (AP): Two passing motorists are being hailed as heroes for saving the lives of three men trapped inside a burning vehicle. The accident happened Tuesday evening. The three men were trapped inside the vehicle when it rolled over and burst into flames. The two passing motorists, a man and a woman, were in separate vehicles. They both arrived at the crash scene before emergency vehicle responders. The woman attacked the fire with bottled water and a jacket, while the man used a knife to cut the seat belts and pull the men to safety. Two of the occupants were taken to the hospital. The driver was cited for driving without a license. The Auburn Police Chief says that there is “no doubt” in his mind that the two passers-by saved the lives of the three trapped men.
