AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) – Police have arrested an uncle and a nephew they allege were involved in a burglary at a Chesterville home foiled by a teenage girl hiding in her room.
James Dingus and his nephew, Stephen Dingus, both 31, were arrested Thursday near their Augusta apartment.
Police say the pair may be responsible for a series of burglaries in Franklin and Lincoln counties.
Police say the 17-year-old girl was home alone Monday when someone forced their way into the home.
The girl hid in her bedroom until the suspect opened the door, and fled upon seeing her. Nothing was taken.
Police praised the girl for having the presence of mind to call 911 with a detailed description of the suspects and their vehicle.
