Jaws of Life were needed to remove two men from a crash that happened early Thursday morning on Rt. 11 in Eagle Lake. State Police say 27 year old Dustin Bouchard of Winterville was northbound in a 2006 For pickup owned by the Dept. of Conservation. Travis Powers, age 19 of Presque Isle was southbound in a 2009 Ford pickup owned by Irving Woodlands. Bouchard’s truck hydroplaned on the wet roadway and Bouchard lost control, crossing lanes and hitting Powers’ vehicle head on.
Emergency responders from Eagle Lake had to use their Jaws of Life to remove both men from their vehicles. Bouchard suffered internal injuries and was taken to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent in stable condition. Powers sustained serious internal injuries and broken bones. He was taken to NMMC in critical condition and later flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for further treatment. No word on his current condition.
Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation.
