Turnpike Fatal

| November 11, 2013

State Police say a Newry man was killed early Monday morning in a one car crash on the Maine Turnpike.  Troopers say 36-year Jacob Bartholomew lost control of his car near the South Portland exit as it went off the road and slammed into a tree.  The vehicle then caught fire.  Bartholomew was alone in the car.  Around midnight, police received reports of his car driving the wrong way in the southbound lane in Biddeford and began searching for the vehicle. Troopers say that Batholomew apparently used a median crossover somewhere between Biddeford and Scarbourogh to get into the northbound lane and crashed around 12:30 a.m.
