YORK, Maine (AP) – A Maine state trooper is recovering from injuries after his cruiser was struck by another vehicle on the Maine Turnpike over the weekend.
Trooper William Baker was treated and released from the hospital in York on Sunday. He has a number of bumps and bruises.
Police say Baker was sitting in his parked cruiser at the site of another crash in York when a car driven by a University of New England student began skidding on the icy roadway. The car struck the center guard rail, skidded across three lanes and struck the cruiser at the driver’s door.
Police said the driver, 21-year-old Kaitlin St. Peter of Dracut, Mass., suffered minor injuries and received a summons for imprudent speed.
