Fort Kent’s Austin Theriault will climb into a Nationwide Series car again on Saturday at Loudon. This will be his second race in a three race deal with JR Motorsports.

I caught up with Theriault on the phone from North Carolina as he made final preparations for his return to New England and what he considers a home track.

Theriault: “I’m real excited Loudon is a track that I have had some success there before and I got some laps there and sort of know what I want to feel in the race car. Granted the types of race cars that I have raced there in the past are a little different than what it is going to be in the Nationwide car.

Theriault is in the middle of a busy stretch he drove the family owned Austin Theriault Southern Maine Chrysler Jeep Dodge to a second place finish last weekend at Beech Ridge. Last month he won an ARCA race at Michigan for Venturini Motorsports and prior to that had a top 15 finish in his JR Motorsports Debut in Iowa. He says every time on the track is a learning experience

Theriault:” It was a learning weekend and I was able to take some things that I learned there and hopefully it is something we can build on. I am still going to be learning how the car drives.but the more seat time that I have and the more experience that have the more comfortable i am going to be. The faster the cars are going to be and the faster that I can drive them.”

He says he is humbled by the number of fans that follow him and knows there will be a large contingent of people from the St John Valley and others part of the State wearing Austin Theriault merchandise and cheering him on.

Theriault:”A lot of people of Loudon and it is good to have that in the back of your head when you are on the race track. I will do anything I can to put on a good show and come home with a good finish.”
