Two County golfers have captured State golf titles. Jenna Hallett of Presque Isle and Robbie Watson of Fort Fairfield are both state champions
Watson won the Class C title shooting a 1 under 71 and claiming a five stroke victory.
“It was a lot of fun probably the most fun I have had as a non player. It was great to watch Robbie play. He just played an awesome round right from the opening shot. He put some pressure on his playing partner. They were chasing him and he was playing his game. He was just making everything on the greens
The Junior has had a great year on the course. He was medalist at several events this year and capped off the season with the state title
“Putting was better than I normally do I made a lot of nice par putts and made an eagle putt that helped my score out
Jenna Hallett of Presque Isle tied for the girls title with a 76. Hallett is out of town and wasn’t available for an interview. Her coach Daren Hunter said that Hallett played very well and that it was great watching her play so well
” It was actually one of the best rounds of golf I have ever seen played. Watching her go head to head with Megan Flanagan was great. She was actually down a few strokes with a few holes to play Really dug deep and closed out with a birdie.”
Both Watson and Hallett played well the week before in the State Championship and Watson said that gave him confidence heading into the individual championship
“I had 73 in the team competition that gave me confidence. I was liking how the course was playing and was comfortable with it.
