UMPI Basketball Player Turns Pro

| October 9, 2013

University of Maine Presque Isle graduate Patrick Manifold has taken his basketball game to the next level playing at the British Basketball League for the Glasgow Rockets. Jim Casciano was Manifold’s coach for two years at UMPI and said this is great for both Manifold and the University.

” It’s great publicity for Patrick for the University for the basketball program.  It indicates it doesn’t matter what level you play at. You can be a Division 3 player in Maine and if you are good enough they will find you. It’s a recruiting tool. It’s something we can use and who knows the next Patrick Manifold could be right down the road for us.”

Manifold worked extremely hard to reach the pro level. He led the Owls in Scoring, Rebounding and Blocks last year and was named a USCAA All American. Casciano said that the Manifold’s pro contract is great fur the University

” It’s a great opportunity for Patrick. He worked his tail off for four years to prepare himself for that opportunity.  Every year he got better. Very focused young man. It’s a great opportunity for him. Obviously we him to do extremely well as he takes his first step into his career.”
