Harness Racing Returns to Presque Isle

The Flyers signed forward Jakub Voracek to a multi-year contract extension. He joined Philadelphia last season in the deal with Columbus. The 22-year old had 18 goals and 49 points in 78 regular-season games last season, and finished third on the Flyers in postseason scoring with 10 points.

Semin signs with Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) – Free-agent forward Alexander Semin (SEHM’-ihn) has agreed to terms with the Carolina Hurricanes on a one-year contract worth $7 million. Semin is a former member of the Washington Capitals and is the latest big name to join the Hurricanes, who acquired center Jordan Staal in a draft-day trade with Pittsburgh.

Harness racing will be returning to the Northern Maine Fair on Sunday.  Directors decided to start racing on Sunday instead of the traditional Friday night opening for many reasons
