AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) – A Maine man charged with killing his father says he was sexually abused for his entire life.
The 24-year-old was in Kennebec County Superior Court Thursday morning. He’s charged in the death of his father, whose dismembered remains were found Monday in at least nine plastic bags.
In a police affidavit, investigators detail how the man says he stabbed and dismembered his father in their shared apartment and moved the remains to a wooded location in Richmond.
The Associated Press does not identify potential victims of sexual abuse so is not naming the defendant or the victim.
The man has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation. He did not request bail or enter a plea.
