AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) – Federal officials say about 270 Maine residents successfully signed up for health insurance plans on the troubled health care exchange website in the first month of open enrollment.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released the highly-anticipated enrollment figures on Wednesday.
According to the report, more than 3,500 Maine residents have submitted applications on the exchange, or marketplace, a key part of President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act. Nearly 6,500 people would get coverage under those applications, including spouses and children.
Throughout the country, the administration says fewer than 27,000 Americans managed to enroll for health insurance last month in the 36 states relying on the problem-filled website.
