Snowdogs Meet Wildcats

A pair of State Champions battled today in Presque Isle. The Presque Isle girls basketabll team winners of 55 straight games taking on the Snowdogs.


It was the season opener for the defending Special Olympics basketball champion Snowdogs.  Their first test of the season a major one against a team that has won 55 straight regular season and tournament games. the Presque Isle Lady Wildcats last loss was last year when the Snowdogs won a thrilling game over the two time defending Class B Champions. .Snowdogs coach Brian Hamel says his players have been chomping at the bit

“It’s always a lot of fun. It’s a great learning experience for the Presque Isle girls. and for my team. We have 28 Snowdogs who are going to play today and they are very excited to have some competition.”

This was a very good matchup between the two teams the Snowdogs working the fast break and putting in second chances kept this game close. The Wildcats out there interacting with their opponents sharing their mutual love for the game.

Jeff Hudson ” I walked into the gym and four or five of them came up and said great win last night. We see them at the games and it’s a great community thing. We like them and they love us”

Krystal Kingsbury ” It feels nice because we see them out in the crowd cheering us on.  They come to our game and support us and it is fun to come and support them.”

“Hannah Graham ” This is what basketball is all about just having fun.  It’s neat to teach these guys a little bit more then they already know.”

The Snowdogs also loving the experience and they were looking for the win

Chad McAdams ” I like it. We are going to have good sportsmanship. I’m very happy to be here today with all my teammates.”

Lajenna Miller ” Nervous and it’s our day to win.”

It is more than a game, it’s two teams sharing the love of the sport, but also sharing a life memory

Hudson ” I think it is great it comes at a really good time for my team.  I think it puts things in perspective. My kids really look forward to it. I know the Snowdogs really love it too. ”

Hamel ” I really appreciate Presque Isle High School Lady Wildcats coming out . It’s a great learning experience for them. We have fun. Sure it’s a game and everybody likes to score points, but the important part is to learn some life lessons here today and to have fun.”
