RUMFORD, Maine (AP) – Police say a woman has been shot by a police officer in the town of Rumford.
Oxford County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Chris Wainwright tells the Sun Journal that the victim was taken to Rumford Hospital for treatment.
Investigators from the Maine State Police and attorney general’s office are investigating.
Steve McCausland of the Maine Public Safety Department says the officer-involved shooting happened late Tuesday afternoon. He said the victim’s condition wasn’t immediately known.
Circumstances of the shooting weren’t clear. In Maine, the attorney general investigates whenever an officer uses lethal force in the line of duty.
