Van Buren’s Parise Rossignol became a member of the 100 goal club last night when she scored 6 goals in a win over Limestone. According to the Maine Soccer Coaches Association Rossignol is just the 13th girl to break the barrier.
” It felt good. Since freshman year it has been a goal of mine and it felt good to reach it finally.”
Athletic Director Sue Parent and Coach Jay Edgecomb presented Rossignol with the game ball today. Rossignol has been a consistent scorer during her four years but she know that she wouldn’t have success without her teammates
” I have been blessed with the team I have. The first two years we made it to State Championship and that adds like eight extra games to the schedule. Pretty much all my goals have an assist so I have been blessed to be a member of this team.”
Coach Jay Edgecomb says that Rossignol is a great leader
” The last four years have been special for us up here. Parise is a very humble player and is a great teammate to everybody. It’s always exciting to watch her play out there and she is a very good teammate to all.
The crusaders have had success on the field in the last three years winning back to back titles in 2010 and 2011.
Rossignol has scored 103 goals in her career and is just one goal behind school record holder Sarah Roy who ended with 104. Rossignol deflects praise for individual records and wants to focus on the team.
” Team comes first team accomplishments are a lot better. Hopefully we can make the playoffs and see how far we can go.”
