It’s a crowded leaderboard at the New Brunswick Jr. Golf Championships in Grand Falls. Rene Cloukey has the second round highlights.
The Province’s top Jr. golfers were back on the course for the second round of the championship and once again Calvin Ross of Kingwsood in Fredericton shot his second sub par round coming in at 1 under and a two day total of 4 under par to take a four stroke lead into Friday..
Ross:”I was pretty happy with my round. I struggled on the back nine. I was 4 under at once but I finished strong and I am happy with it.”
Bradley Jenkins of Plaster Rock is in a tie for the second spot. Jenkins is at even par for two rounds.
Danek Hadley of Gowan Brae made this long birdie putt on 18 and is in a four way tie for second place.
The highlight of the day Tyler Carroll who registered a hole in one on the front nine today.
Carroll:” After that hole in one I had a couple of birdies in there and bogeyed 8 ended up shooting 33 on the front.”
Carroll shot his second straight 76 and is tied for 11th.
Ross has been consistent over the last two days and takes a four stroke lead into the final round and he said he isn’t planning on changing anything.
Ross:” I can’t change how I have been playing each round. I got to go out and play the same. Hit all the same shots and hope I come in low.”
While the older players have one more round the Pee wee Division champions were crowned. Nathan Hogan of Gowan Brae and Julie Gauvin of Fox Creek picked up the titles in the two round tournament.
