(Perth-Andover, NB) – Construction work on the $1 million project to renovate the Hotel Dieu hospital in Perth-Andover will begin in mid-March and is expected to be complete by the end of June. MFA Construction from Tracadie-Sheila is the low bidder on the project. The renovation includes creating new clinic space in the hospital’s former surgical suite for physiotherapy/occupational therapy, ambulatory care clinics, a physicians’ lounge and on-call room, and various administrative offices. Part of the adjoining second floor of the old hospital will be renovated for storage and employee lockers.
Since the 2012 flood, services and spaces have been distributed throughout the hospital or located in six mobile trailers. The renovations are expected to alleviate space constraints that have been difficult for staff and patients during the last two years. Wes McLean, MLA for Victoria-Tobique said, “This is a significant financial investment in this hospital, and this hospital will continue to be a priority of mine. Our people rely on this facility, our physicians and staff are professional and hard-working, and I am proud of their efforts throughout the last two turbulent years.”
