Not many people can say that the Boston Red Sox have won five World Series Titles during their lifetime. For most fans it would be two in 2004 and 2007, But Doris Bernard of Presque Isle was alive when the Sox won in 1915, 16 and 1918. The Diehard Sox fan turned 100 on Saturday and today Lucy Richard of the Women’s Health Center at TAMC helped organize a surprise birthday party.
Red Sox decorations, baseball cards and a Red Sox cake were all part of a baseball themed party for Doris Bernard who turned 100 years old over the weekend. I am not sure if Bernard was more happy about the party or about the Red Sox sweeping the New York Yankees over the weekend
“There’s not much to say about the Yankees. They are not my friends. You don’t like the Yankees Doris? No, but don’t tell anybody
Bernard has followed the Red Sox for most of her life and loves this years team. She said she has had many favorite players over the years , but she said her all time favorite might be Ted Williams
” Maybe Pedroia, I think he is my favorite. I like them all and they picked up some mighty fine little players.”
Bernard received several congratulatory messages and sentiments today and she enjoyed each and every one of them, but the one present she would love the most would be another World Series Title
“They better. They better because I am right behind them they better win for sure.”
