Hartland, New Brunswick town councilors are questioning their contract with RCMP after a decrease in regional police coverage. The Bugle Observer reports that councilors questioned the fee the town pays for the services it receives during Monday night’s meeting,. Hartland Mayor Craig Melanson calls the RCMP’s coverage disturbing. One thought that was suggested was that the town consider looking into re-establishing its own force, though the mayor says he doubts the town would be able to cover such a cost. For now, he says they simply don’t have control over the policing the town receives.
