November is here, and that mean ski season is right around the corner… In preparation for this upcoming winter, people packed into the Presque Isle Rec center on Sunday, November 3rd for the annual Quoggy Jo Ski & Winter Sports gear sale.
Consignment items as well as items from vendors, used and new, were displayed on tables, ski racks and even boxes. We spoke with Gene Cronin, Quoggy Jo Ski club president told us why this event is so important for the ski club.
Gene Cronin President of Quoggy Jo Ski Club said, “It’s our number one fundraiser throughout the year and its very crucial to our opening every season.”
Cronin said they usually make around 4-5 thousand dollars from this fundraiser… Lyn Michaud the owner of The Ski Shop in Van-Buren was one of the vendors at the fundraiser, he told us that a percent of the money he earns goes towards Quoggy Jo Ski club and in the past he has done very well.
“We’ve seen years we’ll do 7-8 thousand dollars worth of sales in three hours.” said Michaud.
Cronin told us that at the Ski center they cater to the younger children and families. I spoke with one father Karter Kenney who has had great success in the past at this sale.
Karter Kenney said, ” I love these kinds of sales, it’s great for the younger kids, cause every year they outgrow it and you don’t want to have to buy new every year.”
With kids and adults gear this place was packed with inventory.
