Over 10 soups and chilies were served at the Presque Isle Snow Mobile Club in hopes to promote the campaign for the new community center project. The Presque Isle Community Center Committee members are actively out promoting their journey to build a new center where people of all ages can enjoy.
“We want to promote that aspect of it, that there is going to be something for everybody for all ages and that’s really the angle and if you look around here you see all ages, ” said P.I community Center Campaign Committee Member, Scott Norton.
It wasn’t just a night of stew, chili and dessert, it was also an evening of knowledge. The Presque Isle Community Center committee informed the community of the progress they have made thus far.
“Were just really starting out. We had a slow start and we decided that we really need to get people involved in this,” said Co-Chair of the Community Fundraising Project for Presque Isle Community Center.
He continued by saying they are looking for more people to get involved and help raise money for the community center.
“We want people to know that the committee is very active, we want people to know that you know we are out there trying to explain what the new community center is going to be about,” said Richard.
Norton told us the current William Haskell Recreation Center is in need of dire repairs. He said, in fact some would say beyond repair and won’t meet current codes, which is why they are trying to promote this new Community Center. They also said they will be having many more fundraisers in the future.
