State Police have charged a Portland woman and two men from Massachusetts after seizing a large amount of marijuana, mushrooms and $33,000 in cash. The investigation began Tuesday evening with a motor vehicle stop along Interstate 295 in Scarborough by Trooper Kevin Rooney. Inside the car, Rooney detected a strong order of marijuana from the two men inside and he found $9,000 in cash. Suspecting the men were headed to Portland to buy drugs, the trooper let the vehicle go, but then called drug agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the federal DEA to help follow the car. After it stopped at 23 Noyes Street, a search warrant was issued. Seized was over six pounds of marijuana, two large bags of psychedelic mushrooms and $33,000.
Charged were 31 year old Jessie Fredrickson of Portland, whose apartment was searched. She is charged with aggravated trafficking of marijuana. The two men from Massachusetts are 21 year old Sean Bailey of Gardner and 20 year old Brandon Livingston of Templeton – both charged with unlawful trafficking in marijuana. The trio cooperated with police and were released after receiving summonses.
