Another milestone for Parise Rossignol of Van Buren. She becamse the schools all time leading scorer last evening surpassing her father Matt..She needed 13 points to break the record and her father matt says it was almost surreal and a very speical moment

Matt Rossignol:” It was kind of surreal as a coach you are happy for a player who breaks any record and of course a unique situation with the fact this player just happens to be my daughter so it was a proud moment for my whole family.”

Parise joined the 2000 point club earlier this season and as she continued to rack up the points she knew she was getting close to his school record. Last night was a very important game and the important thing was walking out of dyer brook with a win

Parise Rossignol:”There was pressure but I think there was more pressure to get that win because Southern Aroostook is a good team and we knew they were worth a lot of points. It was in the back of my mind. A lot of people expected me to get it that night and I was glad to get it over with early so we could focus on getting the big win.”

Rossignol scored 2257 points in his career at the school and

Parise said while growing up she didn’t think about becoming the all time leading scorer in Van Buren

Parise :” I honestly didn’t think I would. I would look at the banner and think it would be cool but once I started getting close I thought it would be nice to beat dad and maybe bragging rights in the house. It was nice.”

The Crusaders are trying to stay focused on the big picture. that would be a berth in the Eastern Maine Tournament and a run at a State Title.

Matt:” Parise would be the first one to tell you that  records are nice and  we would be lying if we said that individual milestones don’t matter. She realizes the most important thing is trying toget our team down to the tournament and who knows how far we can go. We know Class D is tough but having this out of the can allow us to focus on playing good basketball.”

Parise:”We are hoping to get a high seed we want to reach our goal of winning a State Championship so our team is very excited to go down the tournament and hopefully make a nice run.”
