One Teenager Killed Two Others Injured in Hiram Crash

HIRAM, ME: One teenager has been killed and two others were injured Wednesday night in a one car crash on River Road in Hiram. The three teens were students at Sacopee Valley High School in Hiram.  Killed in the wreck was 16 year old Alexia Valente of Hiram who was driving the 1998 Nissan Sentra.  Trooper Tom Welch reported that  the girl lost control of the car on a curve and it struck a tree on the driver’s side.  The trooper said the cause of the crash was speed. The two passengers, 17 year old Christopher Eagles and 16 year old Austin Lewis, both from Baldwin,  were taken to Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Trooper Welch said there is no indication that any of the teens were wearing their seat belts. The crash took place just after 7 p.m. and Valente lived on the same road. The speed limit on River Road is 45 mph.
