MONMOUTH, Maine (AP) – Police say one person was fatally crushed by a load of steel reinforcing bar at a home in Monmouth, Maine.
Chief Kevin Mulherin told the Kennebec Journal that a truck was dropping off the load of rebar when the load slipped and landed on top of the victim, a relative of the property owner.
Rebar is used to reinforce concrete at construction sites.
The victim’s name was not immediately available. Mulherin said he was withholding the name of the company ahead of the Occupational Health and Safety Administration’s arrival at the scene.
