The 8th annual Nordic Trail Festival is returning with even more action than in previous years. Formerly called the Fat Tire Festival, this event is a celebration of community, trails, and lifestyle.
“It’s grown and changed every year, this is by far our biggest year yet,” Event Director Michael Smith says. “So we’re pretty excited, as of today we have around 80 folks pre-registered.”
The festival kicks off Friday, August 3rd, with music, food and contests at the Quoggy Jo Lodge. Saturday morning will feature bike and running races, while that night will feature free entertainment. The festival wraps up Sunday afternoon with a barbeque. Overall, it’s a family friendly event that brings participants from near and far.
“We have fantastic trails, we draw people from as far away as Saint John, New Brunswick and Portland, just to come up and ride and run on our trails and we’re lucky to have them and I think that’s what makes us excited to put this on and showcase what we got here,” Smith says.
Whether one wants to tackle the trails by running or biking, or relax and take part in a variety of activities, Smith says it’s one you don’t want to miss.
“I hope everyone makes it out. Whether you’re a trail runner or a mountain biker, there’s certainly something for everyone here this weekend and guaranteed to put a smile on your face.”
