SCARBOROUGH, Maine (AP) – Fire officials believe a blaze that destroyed a multimillion-dollar home in southern Maine was an accident. An early morning fire on Saturday destroyed a 12-room home on Winslow Homer Drive in the Prouts Neck community of Scarborough. Two people jumped from a second-floor window to escape the fire. State Fire Marshal Joe Thomas says he suspects the fire was accidental since the house was occupied and two people had to jump safety. The home is assessed at $4.2 million by the town and is located near the oceanside home and studio where artist Winslow Homer lived from 1883 until his death in 1910. ┬áThe house where he produced some of this most notable work.
