23 year-old Ronald Lewis was sentenced to 6 1/2 years behind bars for his role in a methamphetamine manufacturing lab on Main St. in Presque Isle.
Today in court Lewis apologized for his actions and admitted he has struggled with substance abuse.
In December of 2011, MDEA raided 689 Main St. and removed chemicals and equipment used to manufacture methamphetamine. Less than a week later two arrests were made on then 23 year-old Ray Varney and 28 year-old Leland Alger. An arrest warrant was issued for Lewis.
Lewis evaded authorities for 7 months before U.S. Marshals located and arrested him in Topeka Kansas on July 16th, 2012. Lewis was brought back to Maine.
In addition to the 6 1/2 year sentence, Lewis was also given 3 years of probation and is required to go through mandatory treatment for substance abuse.
