HOLLIS, Maine (AP) – Maine State Police say a Hollis man has been shot and killed in armed confrontation with police.
Authorities have not released the name of the deceased.
Police say a standoff started around noon on Thursday when the man’s wife fled the couple’s home and he fired a gunshot.
Authorities say the man was shot outside his home at 2:15 p.m. by a member of the state police tactical team.
The trooper was not injured.
Police say the Maine attorney general’s office is investigating, which is standard procedure in all police shootings.
Police say part of Route 35 near the house has been closed and likely will remain closed during the evening commute.
