5th Grade Kids Paint The Windows Of Businesses In Mars Hill For The Holidays

| December 6, 2013

Decorating the town for the holidays is a job that needs doing, so why not leave it to the kids. Here’s a look at the work kids were doing in Mars Hill.

It’s a holiday wonderland in downtown Mars Hill with paintings on the windows, and it’s all done by 5th graders.

Jennifer Mahan, a teacher at Fort Street Elementary says, “the 5th grade at fort St. Elementary school was contacted by the Mars Hill winter fest committee and wanted to know if we would be willing to paint some windows around the town businesses.”

And that they did.  12 businesses offered their windows to the 5 graders.   They got pretty decorative with the paintings to celebrate the holidays.

Mahan says,  “It’s nice for the to learn how to be an effective citizen and give back to the community.”

This is the second time that Fort St. Elementary gets to paint the windows for the holidays.

Anyone passing through down town Mars Hill will notice, a job well done, especially knowing how it was so much fun, for the kids.
