The new year can mean a new you; and if changing up your look is on your list well look no further. New Source 8’s Angela Christoforos believe it or not is also a certified stylist, and she’s going to show you to how to change your look easily, inexpensively, and with the help of local professionals from right here in the County….

“It’s a new year, a chance for a fresh start, and what better way to start it off than with a New Look? I’m going to show you how to give yourself a simple makeover without breaking the bank. I’m going to show you how by re-creating Morgan Svitila’s hair, makeup, and wardrobe,” said Angela.

UMPI Student Morgan Svitila said, “I have a really laid back style, I mostly wear jeans and casual tops but it would be nice to be able to figure out how to do my makeup and my hair in a really quick fashion and dress like a career woman. I’m graduating school soon and obviously along with the resume process there’s going to be an interview process and you can’t go to an interview in jeans and a casual t-shirt so it would be nice to know how to make myself look presentable.”

“And it all starts with a great hair style. Presque Isle hair stylist Jessica Landry is going to give Morgan’s hair some volume and add some curls,” said Angela.

Hair Stylist Jessica Landry said,  “You’re going to want to blow dry down the hair shaft versus up. Comb the back of your hair forward, and the crown of your hair up.”

Angela said, “Now, time to style!”

“Bring the hair towards your face. Just take sections no wider than the barrel of my curling iron. Instead of bringing it all the way to the end, I’m going to leave about an inch hanging out. I’m just going to give Morgan a little bit of volume through her crown area, going take a thin section and I’m going to angle it forward, and I’m just going to spritz it lightly towards the root area. And then you’re going to take the end of your teasing comb and you’re just going to lightly comb your way through it. When you’re done, you want to just give it a finishing spray,” said Landry.

“And VOILA! But we’re not done yet! Mary Kay Consultant Patti Drake is going to do Morgan’s makeup!”

Mary Kay Consultant Patti Drake said,  “So the first thing is after we’ve washed her face which we’ve already done, is to put a foundation on her. And you just want to dabble it on your face, and then you’re just going to brush out. I’m going to use a cream eye shadow, this is going to open up her eye because it’s a lighter color. And put her skin tone or medium color and then we’re going to start on the outer edge and work our way in, along what would be her natural crease line and that’s going to define her eye line a little bit. We’re keeping it really simple with just the three colors. The trick is to blend in your colors so that they’re seamless. We’re gonna but some mascara on her, we’re going to start at the base of her lash and we’re just going to kind of jiggle it up.”

“And lastly.. Lips!”

“Using a copper color for her, very light lip gloss shade,” said Drake.

“And the finished product? Morgan looks like a million bucks! But that’s only one piece of the pie. Stay tuned for the next segment and I’ll show you how to give your wardrobe a boost,” said Angela.

You’ll want to stay tuned for the 2nd part of Angela’s ” New Year New Look” segment airing tomorrow night, to see Morgan’s completed head to toe look.
