Do you want know about crime in your area, well there’s an app for that. The new Presque Isle police app is an interactive way to communicate and provide information.
Presque Isle Police Chief Matt Irwin says, “whether you have a business in town or home in town, it gives you an opportunity to see what the police department’s doing in your area of interest.”
That app has features that gives you a list of registered sex offenders in Presque Isle, It gives a map of the crimes that have been committed and location. It has a list of who’s wanted in the community and much more…
Irwin, “it also provides the police department with the opportunity to send information out to who ever has the application if we have an amber alert.”
Right now the app is only available on the android market, and will be available for the apple market in the next week or two according to Chief Irwin, who’s had a couple of weeks to experiment with it before making it public.
Irwin says, “I like it a lot, I think there’s a lot of good useful information for people and I think that having it at the touch of your finger weather you’re at the grocery store- not while you’re driving- but you know other places around town that’s pretty useful.”
The app is free, and the nice thing about it is, if you don’t have a smart phone, there’s a texting feature that delivers messages to your phone from the police department, with any urgent information that’s needs to be sent.
