The New Brunswick Opposition Liberals are questioning how sustainable the Tory Government’s recently unveiled drug plan is going to be.
The Bugle Observer reports that Liberal Leader Brian Gallant says he supports the program in principle…but wants to know exactly how the government plans on paying for it.
The plan is designed to cover drugs for people who don’t have coverage through their employer.
The initial year of the drug program will cost roughly $50 million to introduce.
By 2015 the plan is mandatory and expected to cost between 120 and 150-million dollars.
As of right now, the government is working to figure out how much businesses will be able to contribute to the program.
But without that number, Opposition Liberals say there’s no way of knowing how sustainable the program will be.
