A local insurance company was named today among the top 50 insurance companies in the entire U.S. Shawn Cunningham reports on the announcement and why this company from Northern Maine is stacking up so well against big city competitors.
Tuesday, is a great day in the history of MMG Insurance. The company is named among the Top 50 insurance companies by the Ward Group, which pretty much is the Good Housekeeping seal of approval for insurance companies in safety, consistency and overall performance. MMG CEO Larry Shaw says this accolade sets the company is succeeding in achieving a level of excellence among its peers. And its all attributed to the company’s workforce.
Larry Shaw is the CEO of MMG Insurance and says “they naturally provide a high level of service they have a great work ethic and they take a lot of pride in what they do.”
Shaw says that pride has translated over into a working business model that’s employee focused first. But it also incorporates relationships with every company, community and even competitor that MMG staff come in contact with. And it sets MMG apart in a positive way.
Shaw adds “we’ve always felt our business model separates us from the competition that high tech high touch model building relationships providing exceptional customer service and then overlaying that with state of the art technology always has been something that allows us to compete successfully.”
But the road to ratings like the Ward Group’s hasn’t always been smooth. Shaw says fiscally MMG has weathered some up and down years. He says there are always challenges.
“The challenges are tied to a very competitive industry we compete against those companies you see on tv all the time…” says Shaw.
This Ward Group designation follows MMG this year, making a leap from A minus to A by the AM Best insurance rating analysis. This leap took the company 17 years to achieve. Shaw says getting these two nods from financial ratings groups say the company is clearly moving in the right direction…
Shaw adds “We are so optimistic about the future it shows we’re financially strong our balance sheet’s strong we’re successfully competing however the best message I think today is that the company is so well positioned to move forward.
MMG has a presence in five states including Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
