Presque Isle girls Soccer coach ralph Michaud has joined an elite club. Michaud picked up his 200th career coaching win. He gives all the credit for his wins to the teams.
” I have been blessed for the last 16 years with tremendous support and players. If you look around the grounds I think we play on the best soccer field in the state of Maine. It is a pure soccer turf field there are no other lines on it. We have beautiful warm locker rooms. I am blessed to be a part of it.”
Michaud has been involved with the sport of soccer since his college days at UMPI. He is an Owl Hall of Fame member based on his success on the field, He started his varsity coaching career 16 years ago
” It was kind of a whimsical thing when it happened back in 1998. I was still coaching the boys jayvees. Chris Casavant had just finished his first year and got a teaching in Caribou. I was ready to be a varsity coach and the girls job came up and from there on it has been one great ride. “
The Wildcats have been in the playoffs every year during Michaud’s tenure and have captured two Eastern Maine titles. Michaud said he has enjoyed every minute of it and is looking to continue for continued success.
” In soccer you have just 14 regular season games and that is four less then basketball so it takes a while longer to have your wins add up. We have been very successful here at Presque Isle High School right from the players to the assistant coaches. The Administration backs everything we do”
