Newborn Charlotte Nadeau is enjoying a nap in the arms of new mom and dad Stephanie and Robby. Cary Medical Center says the number of families opting to have their babies at their hospital is up. And the level of care has gotten national notice from the healthcare industry garnering a 2013 excellence obstetrics care award for the hospital. Cary OBGYN staffers Bonnie Bouchard and Dr. Brian Wall say it all begins with teamwork.

“It starts right down in our office from our receptionist and it carries all the way through from the nurse that support providers in the office we have two midwives, three physicians one new physician that’s joining us this week and we all have a team concept.” says certified nurse and midwife Bonnie Bouchard.

“Its something we’re all very passionate about, its something we love to do we love delivering babies and interfacing with women and strive to improve the practice we’re constantly innovating and changing.” says Cary Medical Obstetrician Dr. Brian Wall.

Many of those practices have proven successful for the hospital. But Bouchard says like anything else its been through years of trial and error…trying to find out what works for patients. Staff finally decided to incorporate patient feedback in the dolling out of care, personalizing it to fit individual patient needs. Cary also offers an array of pain options including epidural and intrathecals amidst a mixed regimen of traditional, state of the art and alternative care practices.

Bouchard says “we really listen to women and what they want from doing aromatherapy, massage and reflexology and hydrotherapy and water births. We can be as back to nature as a person wants to be and yet we have all the bells and whistles as well we have modern equipment.”

“Childbearing is one of the sentinel events in a woman’s life and we realize that and we want that experience to be meaningful and we also want a healthy mom and baby at the end of the day.” adds Dr. Wall.
