Man Under Influence of Bath Salts Causes Scare at Bridgewater Gas Station

| February 12, 2014

A man under the influence of bath salts caused quite a scare Wednesday night at a gas station in Bridgewater. State Police responded to the Gulf Station around 6 p.m. after employees reported that a male suspect was making comments about everyone inside the store blowing up. Employees tell NewsSource 8 the man was wandering around the store for an hour before he started to claim that he had some sort of gas fluid all over him and that people were chasing him and kept asking them not to use the gas pumps. State Troopers, Aroostook County Sheriff’s Deputies and Border Patrol all responded and secured the 30-year-old Houlton man. His name is not being released at this time. He was transported to the Aroostook Medical Center for a medical evaluation. A Maine State Police bomb technician and his K-9 responded and cleared the scene to ensure it was safe and no explosives were brought in the store or in the man’s vehicle. The store was closed for two hours.
