Kenneth Wilson, who retired to Maine, won a Nobel prize for changing the way physicists think about phase transitions. Others who died in 2013 were Judith Glassman Daniels, a transplant to Maine who blazed a trail for women in the publishing world, and E. Robert Kinney, a Maine native who popularized fish sticks at Gorton’s of Gloucester and went on to be CEO of General Mills.
