Maine A.G. Demands Medicaid Report

| January 8, 2014

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) – Maine’s attorney general is demanding that Gov. Paul LePage’s administration immediately release a report by a group reviewing the state’s Medicaid program.
In a letter to LePage on Wednesday, Janet Mills said a court could find the administration “acted in bad faith in resisting disclosure” of the Alexander Group report.

The Department of Health and Human Services hired the group to review the state’s Medicaid program, including the feasibility of expanding the program under the federal health care law. The department said it received a draft of the Medicaid expansion report on Dec. 16, but has declined requests to release it.

LePage said Wednesday that he’s reading the report and will release it when he’s done. In response to the letter, LePage said to tell Mills “to sue me.”
