Carrie Cronkite sits in the dining room with her gaze fixed upon a picture of her daughter Elena who passed away a little over 3 years ago.

“She had a struggle with drug addiction and she was a victim of homicide in 2010.” Said Carrie.

In 2009 Elena moved home in Westfield with her mother because she wanted to break her drug habit.  In 2010 she went missing, and her remains were found in 2011 down state.  Elena’s dream was to create a place people could go who are struggling with addiction after she passed, her mother made that dream come true.

“She told me Mommy, when i’m clean and free from drugs I’m going to buy a house and call it Lena’s house and its going to help girls like me, and I never forgot that… after a few months of prayer we decided to open Lena’s house, you know to pursue her dream and as of now Lena’s house is a freedom from drugs support program support program for men and women who want to stay clean from drugs.” Said Carrie

On November 2nd the Caribou Performing arts center will be putting on an Evening with Annie Charles, winner of the 2007 Aroostook Idol.

“From the proceeds from this particular event we are going to bless Elena’s house, which is being housed in the family christian center at this moment.  Fellowship.  Community get together.  People getting to know one another, just having fun and talking about how good God is.” Annie said.

Annie approached the Family Christian Center and thought that this event would be a great chance to raise money for Lena’s house and help people steer their lives away from drugs and support a cause that Carrie is very passionate about.

“God makes a miracle out of messes, and this is the miracle, Lena’s house that came out of that messy situation.” Said Carrie.
