King in Lebanon When Bombs Explode

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) – Maine Sen. Angus King says it was unnerving to be in a country when a pair of suicide bombs killed eight people.
But he said it didn’t stop people in Lebanon from going about their business. And he said it didn’t stop a meeting between he and Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia with the country’s president.

King made the comments Thursday after returning home from a visit to Lebanon, Israel and the West Bank.

He said he and Kaine had been near the spot where the bombs detonated the day before. He said that the president still met with them despite the crisis.

The independent said that if it’d been Washington, the place would’ve shut down, “so I guess you can get used to anything, even if it’s terror.”
