AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) – Flags are flying at half-staff in Maine as the nation remembers President John F. Kennedy on the 50th anniversary of his death.
Gov. Paul LePage directed that U.S. and Maine flags be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, following a proclamation issued by President Barack Obama for the honor to Kennedy.

Kennedy, a native of Massachusetts, was assassinated during a visit to Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963.
