WARREN, Maine (AP) – A Maine State Prison inmate charged with stabbing another inmate 87 times is due in court. Officials say Richard Stahursky is expected to make his first court appearance on Thursday in Knox County Superior Court. He’s charged with murder in the fatal attack on 37-year-old Micah Boland in the Maine State Prison. There had been speculation that Boland was attacked because he’d been convicted of sexually assaulting a girl, but Stahursky said he was angry that Boland had ratted on him and caused him to lose a prison job. A state police affidavit quoted Stahursky as saying he was “absolutely” guilty. He also said he gets “stupid sometimes” when he has a knife in his hand. Detectives say he used two makeshift knives in the attack.
