Two separate investigations are currently underway in Danforth for the death of a 5-month-old child and an early morning fire that destroyed a mobile home. And as News Source 8’s Angela Christoforos reports, both incidents occurred early this morning at the same home…
Two tragedies, one far more devastating than the other; but both happening to the same family and within just a couple hours.
Maine State Police Sergeant Darrin Crane said, “At this time there’s no indication that the fire has anything to do with the cause of the death of the child.”
For the infants parents, Alan Richardson and Tabitha Osnoe, Friday morning was more like a nightmare.
“A call indicating an unresponsive baby, some attempts were made for life saving measures,” said Crane
According to Maine State Police, 5-month-old Mach-Danyel Richardson was rushed to the Danforth Medical Facility, where he passed away. The fire broke out after the family had left the home.
According to the State Fire Marshals Office, determining the cause of the fire is likely to take some time due to extensive damage. Maine State Police and Washington County’s Sherrif Office are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
” We are interviewing the family members, and at this time they are all being cooperative in the investigation,” said Crane.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and an autopsy on the child is scheduled for tomorrow morning at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta.
A four year old son of the couple also lived at the Danforth Mobile Home, according to State Police, he is unharmed.
