Ian Lee of Madawaska has his name at the top of the Schoolboy scoring list. As we told you on Friday Lee scored the 108th goal of his career moving past Bradley Wilcox for the Schoolboy Record. Lee said the goal in the first half against Van Buren took a lot of pressure off him and the team.
“Finally break the record against Van Buren was a very big relief. I had been waiting for it for so long.
The Madawaska senior spends a lot of time on the soccer field. He competes in the off season in New Brunswick and said that the sport has always been a passion for him
” Growing up my brother was on the team my cousin who is like a third brother was on the team. We have always been watching soccer and you are always playing around trying to be as good as they are. That is where we are now.
His Coach Dean Gendreau is also the Madawaska Recreation Director and has watched Lee play since 4th grade
” He was a soccer rat. He had the energy that most kids don’t He just had that knack of being all over the place. Enjoying the sport of soccer and like I was saying his motor was extra.
The Owls are undefeated on the season and now that Lee has broken the record they can now focus on making into the playoffs and trying to bring a gold ball back to the Valley
It’s a good little accolade to have, but again to go and try to win as many games as we can to get to the final step is the goal. Is what mainly we are trying to do.”
